Three volcanoes, a UNESCO colonial city and Mayan jungle ruins — Central America's most beautiful country.

Central America

Why visit Guatemala?

Guatemala is the most visually stunning country in Central America. The colonial city of Antigua sits in a valley surrounded by three active volcanoes, its baroque ruins and cobblestone streets earning UNESCO World Heritage status. Lake Atitlán has three volcanoes rising from the water with Mayan villages on every shore — Aldous Huxley called it the most beautiful lake in the world.

Tikal in the north is one of the great archaeological sites of the ancient world — a Mayan city buried in jungle with temples taller than the forest canopy. Guatemala is small, extremely affordable and extraordinarily dense with beauty and history.

Who It's Perfect For

Archaeology Lovers

Tikal, the most spectacular Mayan city in the jungle, rivals anything in Egypt or Peru. Yaxhá, Ceibal and El Mirador are extraordinary and almost empty.

🌋

Volcano Enthusiasts

Acatenango overnight hike with lava views from Fuego, Santiaguito eruptions watched from a ridge, Pacaya accessible from Antigua — Guatemala has the most exciting volcanoes in Central America.

🎨

Culture Seekers

Chichicastenango's indigenous market, the Mayan villages of Lake Atitlán, the weaving cooperatives of San Juan and Antigua's Spanish schools — the most intact indigenous culture in Central America.
