Rio de Janeiro
Brazil

The world's most spectacular urban setting — between the mountains and the sea.

Why visit Rio?

Rio de Janeiro is the world's most beautifully situated city. Sugar Loaf and Corcovado bracket the city, Copacabana and Ipanema face the Atlantic, and the favela communities climb the hills in between. Nothing prepares you for the combination.

The city rewards those who engage with its complexity — the responsible favela tours, the Lapa samba clubs, the local boteco bars in Botafogo — rather than staying on the beachfront. Carnival in February is the largest festival on earth.
